Every year 800,000 women die of cervical and breast cancer, but where a woman lives will largely determine her chance of survival. Two thirds of breast cancer deaths and 9 out of 10 deaths from cervical cancer occur in low- and middle income countries. While some diagnostic and treatment services like mammography and radiotherapy are likely unaffordable, several proven, high-impact, cost-effective interventions exist to tackle these common cancers and have the potential to prevent hundreds of thousands of deaths every year, yet are often not available.

Volunteer cytotechnologists are being sought for a Cervical Cancer Screening campaign in Haiti. The clinic will be conducted at the Albert Sweitzer Hospital. Participants must be comfortable working in a third world country. Expected workload is 50 conventional Pap Smears per day. If you are interested, please submit a current resume to Suzy Faggard, sfaggard@aol.com. The clinic is a two week campaign in March 2017. Some travel funding is available to qualified volunteers.
