One of my favorite things about a new year is choosing a new planner. I fail at keeping to it most days, but I can’t not have one. This year, my sister-in-law gifted me the Full Focus Planner. It’s a brick that is actually for a quarter, not the full year, and tracks things like annual goals, daily wins, habits, and what worked each week. Typically, I’m more of an old school At-a-Glance gal, so we’ll see how this works. What’s your planner style? A simple calendar? Lots of detail? Have you gone digital? Happy planning in 2023! Cheers, Holly Leber Simmons, ASJA Weekly Editor

ASJA
Eat the frog. Make a list. Set a timer. Keep to a schedule. Break down tasks. Turn off distractions. Reward yourself. Fail at all of the above, and start again tomorrow.
If you’ve read one or more books about procrastination, subscribed to a productivity newsletter, gobbled up blog posts that offer time-saving or -organizing advice, and still have problems with procrastination, this workshop is for you. In “Gimme a Minute: A Real-talk Procrastination Webinar for Freelance Writers,” ASJA past president Laura Laing will walk us through considering the reasons for procrastination (not all of them are bad!), borrowing from recent research on neurodiversity. Then, we’ll look at ways to trick your natural process, including how to incorporate necessary procrastination.
Join us from 2-3 pm ET on Thursday, January 26, to kick off good habits for 2023. Free for members; $20 for nonmembers. Signup link is here: Gimme a Minute: A Real-Talk Procrastination Webinar for Freelance Writers — American Society of Journalists and Authors (asja.org).
