We are excited to announce that Dorothy Butler Gilliam—the first black female staff reporter at The Washington Post — will be our keynote speaker at the ASJA Writers Conference in Washington, D.C., Nov. 8, 2019. Drawing from more than five decades as a journalist, advocate for women’s rights, civil rights activist and author, Gilliam brings an important message for writers at this juncture in history.
In addition to Gilliam, the conference — dubbed “A Capital Event” — will feature writers and editors from D.C. and beyond discussing the craft of writing, the business of freelancing and opportunities and resources for writers in the nation’s capital. Panelists include editors from Mother Jones, Politico, Washingtonian, and The Washington Post; representatives from the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting and other organizations that give reporting grants and fellowships; award winning authors; and experts in content marketing, podcasting and more.
Writers at all stages of their careers, with different experience levels and areas of expertise, will find something at the conference. Register now for best pricing.
