ASJA
Stacey Freed has recently been appointed treasurer of ASJA. She’s looking to establish a finance committee to focus on:
- Identifying sponsorship and grant opportunities for ASJA
- Exploring potential new revenue streams
- Evaluating profitability of existing programs and payment structures
- Reviewing the 2024 budget with staff for board approval
The commitment would be about a 2- to 3-hours/month, including a monthly meeting. You won’t be “selling” or reaching out to potential sponsors, just identifying potential sponsorship opportunities / companies. Seeking 4 or 5 professional members to participate. Contact stacey.freed@gmail.com, by October 14 with questions or interest.

Alert Your Favorite J-School Students!
ASJA
We are seeking applicants for the ASJA Student Volunteer Program! Student volunteers help manage and update ASJA's database of 6,000+ editors, agents, and content marketing managers as we prepare to invite them to our signature Client Connections event. Member News
ASJA
Sharon McDonnell published a story for Next Avenue on how an artist created an art park in Norway to honor freedom and its grim WW2 occupation by Germany. She also published a story, with video, for AARP, on a New Orleans resident who saved a historic ferry.
Do you have professional news you’d like to share with the group? A new job, a story you’ve published (in article, blog post, book, cave painting, etc. form), a new project you’ve launched, an interview with someone fascinating, a speaking gig? Send your news (50 words or less, I will cut) and a link if applicable to Holly Leber Simmons, ASJA Weekly editor at hello@redpeneditorial.co (that’s .co like Coco Chanel or you go, Glen Coco). Please put “ASJA Member News” in your subject line or it might not be seen.
