We are accepting symposium proposals for the 2016 ASPET Annual Meeting that will be held in San Diego, CA. Members are invited to submit symposia concepts to their division chairs on timely topics that promote scientific interchange. Please submit your proposal by Friday, March 13, 2015.

Application Deadline for ASPET Travel Awards is Just Around the Corner

The deadline to apply for a travel award to attend the ASPET Annual Meeting at EB 2015 is this Friday, December 12. ASPET's travel awards consist of a fixed sum of $600, registration (at the early registration rate), plus up to $400 in travel reimbursement.

Researchers identify drug target for fragile X syndrome
Medical News Today
A drug currently undergoing testing as a treatment for cancer may also be effective against some symptoms of fragile X syndrome — an inherited form of autism. This is according to a study published in the journal Cell Reports. Fragile X syndrome, also known as Martin-Bell syndrome, is estimated to affect 1 in 4,000 males and 1 in 8,000 females in the U.S.

Protein predicts response to new immunotherapy drug

The presence of an immune-suppressing protein in non-cancerous immune cells may predict how patients with different types of cancer respond to treatment, a multi-center phase I study using an investigational immune therapy drug has found.
