Single-incision midurethral slings were introduced in 2006 with the goal of providing shorter operative time, less postoperative pain, and decreased rates of injury to surrounding structures (eg, bladder and/or obturator nerve). Although unrecognized bladder injury during SIMS placement is a rare complication, it can lead to irritative voiding symptoms and recurrent urinary tract infections. The authors present the case of minimally invasive approach to remove an extruded sling.

The objective of this study is to estimate the prevalence of dyspareunia and stress urinary incontinence (SUI) both before and during pregnancy and after delivery, in addition to evaluating possible associated risk factors.
Malpractice litigations have significant implications for patients and physicians. Studies have investigated mesh litigations in female pelvic reconstructive surgery, but none on non-mesh pelvic organ prolapse (POP) surgery. The authors' purpose was to determine the reasons for and outcomes of medical malpractice after non-mesh POP surgery.

The regulatory warnings about the safety of the synthetic midurethral slings (MUS) had a significant effect on how patients and physicians approach surgical management of stress urinary incontinence (SUI). In this changing landscape, the purpose of this research Think Tank (TT) was to provide an update of the current knowledge about the safety and efficacy of SUI surgery, to review patient goals and expectations and to identify factors affecting the decision making for surgery.

Obstetric anal sphincter injuries (OASIS) are associated with sexual dysfunction and a lower likelihood of sexual activity in the postpartum period. The aim of the present study was to compare coital resumption and the variables influencing this activity after delivery in women with and without a history of obstetric anal sphincter injury (OASIS) and according to the mode of delivery.
November 2019 proved to be a fruitful month for urology-specific FDA approvals, with the agency giving the green light to a new drug for complicated urinary tract infection, an implantable device for the treatment of overactive bladder/retention, and a digital product for strengthening of pelvic floor muscles and treatment of urinary incontinence in women.
