Inaugural USTAR Confluence Sets Precedent for Future Conferences
The inaugural USTAR Confluence, held at the James L. Sorenson Molecular Biotechnology building at the University of Utah, was a successful demonstration of the innovation and commercial potential of applied research while providing an informative two days to the academic and business communities. The format of the conference allowed for observation of presentations, networking and an opportunity to view posters from students at the undergraduate, graduate and post-doc levels.More

Chemical Company Lands More Funding
Inside Indiana Business
Spero Energy Inc., whose technology could make biofuel production more efficient and creates high-value, renewable chemicals used in the flavor and fragrance industry, has been awarded a $50,000 grant. The company, based in Purdue Research Park, received the funds from Elevate Ventures, a partner of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. The funds were awarded as part of a matching program. The company had received a $150,000 Phase I SBIR grant from the National Science Foundation.More

UMass Boston Receives the Innovation and Economic Prosperity

The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities presented the University of Massachusetts Boston with their second annual Innovation and Economic Prosperity University Award. The IEP is awarded to colleges and universities members that demonstrate the ability to engage with public and private sector partners with the intentions of economic development. Government Relations and Public Affairs of UMass Boston achieved this through excelling in various operations such as innovation and entrepreneurship, technology transfer, talent, workforce development and community development.More

The AUTM Eastern Region Planning Committee invites you to suggest topics for the AUTM 2015 Eastern Region Meeting, which will take place Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 at the Raleigh Marriott City Center in Raleigh, North Carolina.
