"It's a rather improbable journey," acknowledges Soderstrom, who is widely recognized as heading one of the most successful university technology-transfer initiatives in the country.

Austin American-Statesman
Share

Texas businessman Matt Winkler says the debate over the state's cancer-fighting agency is headed in the wrong direction. The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) is in legislative lockdown until a criminal investigation and audit shows whether agency officials simply made a mistake when they gave a Dallas startup, Peloton Therapeutics, an $11 million grant without a scientific or business review. A second issue is an $18 million grant to a Houston business incubator, now being reconsidered, because it didn't get a scientific review with its first approval.

Obama Backs 'Startup Visas' For Foreign-Born Tech Entrepreneurs in Immigration Speech
The Huffington Post
