You'll Never Guess Where the New Centers of Innovation Are
Two important reports have been released that should make people optimistic about the future of the American economy. The first was a report by the Science Coalition, a group of American research universities that highlighted over 100 companies created by federally funded research. The second report was from the White House and U.S. Department of Commerce about the growing importance of innovation and entrepreneurship to American universities.

Colorado State Precipitation Data to Be Used Globally

Precipitation data collected by Colorado State University's (CSU) Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere is going global with the help of a local software company. CSU is partnering with aWhere, a software company based in Wheat Ridge, to make satellite-generated precipitation data for developing regions of Africa, Asia and Central America available to the public.

UCC Incubator Credits Tech Transfer With Creation of 100 Jobs

University College Cork (UCC) said that startups, spinouts and various tech companies that have emerged from its startup incubator, GatewayUCC, have created 100 new jobs. "Supporting job creation, innovation and entrepreneurship in the knowledge-based sector is a key remit of GatewayUCC," according to Myriam Cronin, manager of GatewayUCC.

The Center for Entrepreneurship at Boise State University, in conjunction with the TECenter, is launching The StartUp Shop, a new project designed to jump start economic development in the Boise valley. The first StartUp Shop, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 21, will connect people with new business ideas to partners, entities and programs that can support them in their entrepreneurial journey.
