  Students Who Know School Bus Safety Make the Bus Safer

Battle Ground Public School students in Washington state are rewarded weekly with tickets for following the district's basic school bus rules, as part of the district's Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program. The five rules are: Be respectful to everyone; sit facing forward; keep feet and body out of the aisle; food and drinks stay in backpacks and lunch boxes; and use inside voices and zero voices at railroad crossings.

  New Jersey Governor Signs 4 School Bus Safety Bills Into Law
School Bus Fleet
Gov. Phil Murphy signed into law four bills designed to raise safety standards for schools buses and school bus operators in New Jersey. "Thanks to our actions in partnership with the Legislature, parents will be able to send their children to school knowing that school buses and school bus drivers are being held to extremely high standards designed to ensure the safety of students," Murphy said.

  NHTSA Awards $100K Drug-Impaired Driving Grant

In the ongoing campaign to combat drug-impaired driving on our roads, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that it has awarded over $100,000 in grants to states through the Governors Highway Safety Association. The funds will boost the quantity of officers who are trained to recognize drivers who are impaired by drugs, including opioids and marijuana.
