Aggregated hedge fund industry assets grew a slight 0.73 percent to $3.04 trillion in 2016 thanks to performance gains of $119.9 billion, estimated research specialist eVestment. For the year, hedge funds saw $106 billion in net outflows, according to eVestment's Hedge Fund Industry Asset Flow Report released Friday. Hedge funds reported $23.7 billion in net outflows in December and $43.2 billion in the fourth quarter.

Illinois will receive $19.5 million from Moody’s Investors Service to resolve a federal investigation into its ratings of mortgage securities leading up to the 2008 financial crisis.
