The top regulator for U.S. financial markets is barring a Chinese-led group of investors from buying the Chicago Stock Exchange.
In a notice late Thursday, the Securities and Exchange Commission highlighted various concerns, including whether the deal would allow it to supervise the exchange properly.
The SEC said that during its review, it was unable to obtain all the information it needed from the Chinese-led group of investors, including details about how some of the entities involved in the deal were funded.

Long-duration strategies were the top performers in fixed income for the year ended Dec. 31, according to Morningstar Inc.'s separate account/collective investment trust database.
Seven of the top 10 fixed-income strategies in the separate account universe were in Morningstar's long-duration bond categories, an abrupt change from the first three quarters of 2017 in which high-yield bonds dominated the one-year top 10 lists.

A few years ago, when it became clear that interest rates were going to stay "lower for longer," there were many pundits advising investors to look to dividend paying stocks rather than bonds for yield. In the context of ultra-low rates and an economy that was still operating at well below capacity, that made perfect sense.
Dividend-paying stocks not only offered a yield comparable to, or in many cases higher than bonds, but also gave investors access to appreciation based on the continued recovery.
