The work stoppage at the Port of Montreal has resulted in the rerouting of a significant volume of local Montreal traffic to CN's Montreal Intermodal Terminal for local delivery. As a result, CN has been experiencing higher ground counts for the past few weeks, which is impacting the fluidity and throughput at the Montreal Intermodal Terminal.
To accommodate this incremental volume of diverted traffic, CN is opening another satellite terminal in Montreal, at:
515 Boulevard des Erables, Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, QC J6T 6G3
Hours: Monday to Friday – 06:00 to 18:00, Saturday and Sunday – 07:00 to 16:00
In terms of billing and customs, nothing will change. Customers whose traffic will be diverted to Valleyfield will be updated one day prior.

When economies around the world ground to a sudden halt due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, transport-related emissions also largely vanished.
Suddenly, distant mountain ranges came into view, NASA video from space was clearer and cities like New Delhi were under uncharacteristically blue skies. That could be a permanent benefit of adopting zero-emissions transportation technologies, Ryan Laskey, senior vice-president, Dana's Commercial Vehicle Group, pointed out during ACT Virtual, this year’s digital version of ACT Expo.

The air cargo market is building up pricing momentum towards the fourth quarter, putting all-cargo carriers and airlines with cargo-only passenger freighters in a strong position relative to shippers.
Freight rates have climbed since early July with the slow return of international passenger capacity combined with consistent growth in cargo shipments as the global economy, notably in China, continues to recover from coronavirus.

A successful coronavirus vaccine is no good to anyone sitting in a lab. The next phase: sending shots around the world and into the arms of the global population.
The unprecedented logistical challenge of delivering more than 15 billion Covid-19 vaccines will be made even harder by the drop in passenger flights as people stay home during coronavirus.

It took the Federal Aviation Administration two months to authorize U.S. airlines to remove seats from passenger aircraft for cargo purposes. Air Canada (TSX: AC) received its governmental OK in a week.
Industry urgency to innovate also was greater north of the border. Canada’s flag carrier was already flying cabin-loaded flights by mid-April, one month before U.S. carriers even applied through their trade association to remove seats from their airplanes.

The good news is that container shipping looks like it will weather the coronavirus crisis. The even better news is that COVID-19 has accelerated and solidified a new, more resilient business formula for the industry.
Recently, the owner of the world's largest container line, A.P. Moller-Maersk (APM, Copenhagen: MAERSK-B), posted stronger-than-expected results for the second quarter — the very quarter the coronavirus was peaking.
