Congratulations 2015 ABC Fellows

Drs. Rajiv Gandhi and Kishore Mulpuri have been selected as the COA's 2015 ABC Travelling Fellows. Dr. Gandhi is Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto with clinical interests in primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty at the Toronto Western Hospital. Dr. Mulpuri is Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia and maintains a paediatric orthopaedic practice at the BC Children's Hospital. They will join five American colleagues on the ABC tour in the Spring of 2015. Please join us in congratulating Drs. Gandhi and Mulpuri on this tremendous achievement.More

The free iPhone app, available for download from the iTunes app store, will act as a guidebook for patients and visitors during their experiences at Brampton Civic Hospital and Etobicoke General Hospital. With help from the app's handy navigation tool, patients and visitors can map out every step of their route; from street maps leading them to the appropriate hospital, to tips on finding the hospital parking lot and entrance nearest their destination, and to floor plans guiding them to the hospital area or clinic they must visit.More

Health region eyes 7-day work week at hospitals

The Saskatoon Health Region may move hospitals to a seven-day work week to help reduce wait times. The National Health Service in the U.K. has been testing the idea for six months, and SHR is watching closely. Under a seven-day system, it wouldn't matter when a patient was admitted, and the workload would be spread more evenly through the week, said Sandra Blevins, vice president of integrated health services.More

After three weeks of work at the new Royal Alexandra Hospital, Elnora Hibbert crossed the street and never looked back. In late 1963, Hibbert joined the nursing staff at a new rehabilitation facility housed in the old hospital across 111th Avenue. A little over a month later, the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital opened its doors on Jan. 6, 1964 to its first 13 children.More
