Changes to Aeropubs shipping and handling fees

Nav Canada is currently revising shipping and handling prices for Aeronautical Information products to ensure that prices are designed in a manner that is equitable and provide for cost recovery.
The current pricing model for shipping and handling of Aeropubs was developed in 1997 and no longer reflects real shipping costs or current pricing methods.

The impact of sequestration on travel to the U.S.

I never heard of the word sequestration until the U.S. fiscal condition resulted in measures to curtail spending. While to a certain extent sequestration does not affect Canada, some U.S. government services that we need, such as Customs, are being curtailed.
Noting that members continue to fly across the border and given that the annual migration to Oshkosh will again create pressure on the system as hundreds of aircraft cross in a short period of time, I wondered what, if anything, will be the impact on travel by private aircraft.

The host of federal government taxes and fees levied on the airline industry should be earmarked for reinvestment and not simply dumped into the government's general revenue pot, stakeholders in Canada's aviation industry are urging.
Aviation industry players who gathered in Montreal at the Canada Airports Council conference had a clear message for Ottawa: the various taxes and fees on the industry, ranging from airport rents and security fees to navigation charges, are dragging on competitiveness and something needs to be done to counteract that.

'Gimli Glider' pilot recalls heroic landing of Air Canada 767 as famed plane put up for sale

It was on a hot summer day nearly 30 years ago that Capt. Robert Pearson's legacy was permanently tied to an Air Canada 767, that became better known as the Gimli Glider.
On July 23, 1983, Capt. Pearson managed to avert what could have easily have become one of the worst airline disaster in the country's history by drawing on his background as a glider pilot and safely landing the embattled aircraft at on old air force base, just metres away from where a crowd had collected to watch go cart races that day.
Bombardier confident about CSeries hiring

Bombardier Aerospace doesn't expect to hire more foreign workers to build its new CSeries aircraft despite possible shortages in skilled labour in Canada.
The aerospace giant has occasionally hired foreign engineers and temporarily uses its own employees from the U.S., China and Britain.

Second World War bombers get a special honour

John (Jack) McLean survived 32 missions fighting the Nazis as a gunner in a heavy bomber and now, almost a lifetime later, it seems, Canada is awarding veterans such as him a special distinction to mark their service.
The Harper government took the wraps off a commemorative bar in Ottawa Monday to honour the 50,000 Canadian veterans who served in Bomber Command. Of the 55,000 Allied men and women who lost their lives in the bomber forces, more than 10,000 were Canadian.

Twenty-one-year-old Captain James Anthony Tan says he was inspired to attempt to become the youngest pilot to fly solo around the world in a single engine plane after meeting a young boy with Down syndrome.
The Malaysian native says he could tell by the look in the child's eyes that he was deflated — lacking dreams, passion and inspiration.
