A flight school aimed exclusively at Indigenous students is under financial pressure following a surge in applications.
The First Nations Technical Institute on the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, near Belleville, Ontario, has operated a flight program for First Nations, Métis and Inuit students since 1989.
Enrolment in the program had dropped off in recent years, but the numbers have rebounded after the school put more efforts into marketing and outreach to youth on social media.

COPA and APBQ are setting up a joint fishing and trekking expedition in northern Quebec, from July 5 to July 9 (4 days, 5 nights), at Mirage Aventure- CPM3 (N53 48, O 072 50.5), accessible by helicopter, float and wheel-equipped airplanes.
Rooms are available for $600 - $700 per person including all meals , or 6-person cottage s at $800 for the four nights, meals extra. Guides available, other lakes accessible with your own plane or the outfitter's.

According to author Nicole Brockbank: My grandfather wanted a chance to fly again nearly 40 years after he retired from a long career with Air Canada, and before that the air force during the Second World War.
So my mom made it happen for his 98th birthday. She signed her dad, Bill Finlay, up for a flying lesson out of an airport in Burlington, Ont.
I got to go along for the ride.
"We'll do a couple of circuits," my grandfather said. "I haven't flown for about 40 years so we'll see how it goes."

Vimy Flight pilot Dale Erhart likens the way his lightweight vintage aircraft moves with the wind to a dandelion floating in the sky.

"Every little motion you feel as the airplane gets tossed about," he said in a recent interview at 14 Wing Greenwood.
"It's definitely a thrill to fly."
Erhart is among a small group of former military pilots flying a First World War replica aircraft in the Vimy Flight — Birth of a Nation cross-Canada tour.

The Recreational Aviation Foundation, EAA Chapter 42 and the National Park Service in Alaska are working together on a community service project to make Jake's Bar in Alaska a safer place to operate.
The unimproved strip is a 1,000-foot gravel bar along the Chitina River in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, 13 nm south of McCarthy.
