Teaching emotional resilience
Counselor Magazine
If addicts and alcoholics use chemicals to avoid uncomfortable emotions, teaching them to feel and tolerate such emotions should be seen as primary in chemical dependence (CD) treatment. With this article, I hope to prompt increased focus on this objective and suggest a model by which it can be accomplished in the treatment milieu.

WFMZ News
Mental health professionals say the coronavirus has wreaked mental health havoc on nearly every age group in America. From the people who got sick, to their caregivers, to the rest of us being off a normal routine for eight months.
Now, many more are seeking counseling to help them get through it all.
There's a lot more panic, anxiety, depression, and many other symptoms that have been exacerbated because of the pandemic and the changes in our current culture of our society," said Dr. James James of St. Luke's University Health Network.

Mental health experts raise concerns over increased video game, online gambling addiction during pandemic
Enid News & Eagle
As the pandemic and social distancing drag on, mental health experts are warning that excessive online gambling and video game usage could lead to addiction and negative social outcomes for some people.
“The COVID pandemic and need for physical distancing has forced many of us to stare at video screens for extended periods and spend less and less time with friends, family, and group activities,” said Sean Byrne, chair of Garfield County Mental Health Coalition and a local licensed counselor.
