Baldwin Park looking to disband nonprofit that runs community programs

The nonprofit organization behind the annual Santa Clothes program could be dissolved in the next few months, Baldwin Park officials said. The Baldwin Park Community Center Corporation provides various services and activities for the city's residents, such as the annual Santa Clothes program and holiday basket giveaway. But the BPCCC has been operating without a board of directors for several years, even though its bylaws require a board to perform oversight and policy functions, according to a report by the city's auditors.More

A vacant city-owned lot on Oxnard's main road, one long slated to become a sports park, has caught the eye of a developer who wants to build an indoor sports center for regional events. The firm, Young & Co. Inc., of Avila Beach, hopes for a $1 per year 99-year lease of the 21-acre property at Oxnard Boulevard and Gonzales Road.More
