Advertising Age
Let's give millennials the CMO chair. We know they think they're ready for it. And maybe they are. Maybe the CMO role is the most appropriate role for them. They've got the highest branding IQ of any generation. They've been acting as their own CSMO (chief self-marketing officer). After all, they've been promoting their own brand for years. They don't have channel strategies, they just are. They don't need words like "content" or "journey," because to them, it is just "stuff" people "do".More

5 networking secrets from a professional spy
Fast Company
Fourteen years ago when I was working in corporate America I began wooing "Big Firm," a potential new client. I started with a cold-call letter I’d spent an embarrassing number of hours composing. It met with silence. But like a teen boy crushing, I kept pursuing Big Firm for many awkward months, painstakingly crafting proposal after proposal. These earned me a series of thanks-but-no-thanks replies, each signed by the same guy. We’ll call him “John.” More

How foreign online streaming will upset the apple carts
The Huffington Post
Canadians who want to view specialty channels and watch their favourite shows must go through their cable providers, like Bell and Rogers. But some industry experts say that may change. This brand-creator partnership is how Snapchat's CEO should have tried to make money
Fast Company
"Shonduras!" The shouter comes loping down the street. He's tall, roughly 16 years old, wearing a gray-striped tank top, saggy shorts, and a hat over his red hair. "Is that Shonduras?" he asks, panting and pointing in the direction where his quarry has just disappeared. Yes, he's assured, it is. Shonduras, aka Shaun McBride, is a popular Snapchatter. At last count, he had around 240,000 "friends" on the disappearing-photo-and-video-sharing app, which makes him one of the most popular people on one of the most popular social media platforms around.More
