Supreme court clears path for states to subsidize nuclear power
States that want to subsidize nuclear power plants got a boost from the U.S. Supreme Court April 15 when it refused to hear a petition challenging a lower court decision that certain subsidies do not interfere with federal regulatory authority. Challengers say the question now is left to federal regulators.
Cuomo adds $280M for New York energy storage projects

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo offered up $280 million this week for energy storage projects in the state that grow the industry and drive down deployment costs. The funding is part of a $400 million investment that supports reaching 3,000 megawatts of energy storage by 2030.

Preeminent Energy Lawyer Robert Fleishman Honored with the EBA President's Award
Robert (Bob) Fleishman, a distinguished energy regulatory attorney with Kirkland & Ellis LLP and the long-term editor of the Energy Law Journal (ELJ) has been selected as the recipient of the Energy Bar Association’s prestigious 2019 President’s Award. The EBA President's Award is given occasionally to an individual that has made an extraordinary contribution to the profession or the development of energy law over a long career. Fleishman will be honored during a luncheon on May 6 at the EBA’s 2019 Annual Meeting & Conference.
"Bob's dedication to EBA is unparalleled. He has served in countless capacities since 1995, his term as Editor-in-Chief of the Energy Law Journal being just one. I can think of no one more worthy of the President's Award. He truly has made an extraordinary contribution to the profession of energy law," said Matt Rudolphi, EBA President.

EBA Board Officer Elections to be held on May 7 at the Annual Meeting
In accordance with Article V of the Energy Bar Association’s By-Laws, the Committee on Nominations respectfully encloses its 2019 Report.
The EBA membership will elect officers and directors for 2019-2020 and seek approval of the proposed Bylaw amendments. The EBA Annual Business Meeting will be held as part of the luncheon program on May 7, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. ET in the North/Central Ballroom of the Renaissance Downtown Hotel, 999 Ninth Street, N.W., Washington, DC.
We hope you will attend and continue to take advantage of opportunities to be involved in the Association. Your support and involvement enables EBA to serve its members, the legal profession, and our communities.
EBA Releases 2018-2019 Annual Report
EBA has released its 2018-2019 Annual Report. The theme of this report is “EBA by the Numbers” which highlights the significant engagement of the membership. For example, the report notes that 2,311 energy constituents participated in more than 40 educational and networking programs, and, 1,321 volunteers served the association!
