Exhibit at the 65th GWA Symposium

The purpose of the exhibit is to provide a forum to exchange information between lawn and garden product manufacturers and North America's premier garden communicators. The exhibition, which will take place Aug. 16-17, is held in conjunction with the 65th GWA Annual Symposium to be held Aug. 16-19 at The Hilton Quebec. Please note that the symposium continues two days after the last exhibition date, and exhibitors are welcomed to participate.

On Monday, Coker told NPR's Audie Cornish that "over the next few years, traditional publishers are going to become more and more irrelevant." Publishing industry observers rooting for the continued solvency of the nation's largest bookstore chain are probably concerned that Barnes & Noble is struggling to grow its Nook device and e-book business while its physical bookstore business shrinks. Nook is supposed to be the company's white knight, but it is losing hundreds of millions of dollars a year on about a billion dollars of revenue, and its sales aren't growing.

Ending a saga that began in late 2009 when publishers were made aware that Apple was intent on entering the e-book market with its new gadget, the iPad, Macmillan has agreed to settle with the U.S. Department of Justice to resolve an alleged case of collusion and price-fixing in the e-book market. Macmillan is one of five of the largest U.S. publishers that the DOJ sued in the spring, alleging that they, along with Apple, colluded to fix the price of e-books.

Self-publishing a book can come with pre-conceived notions from readers, other writers and even publishers. People used to think self-publishing a book meant it wasn't good enough to get picked up by traditional houses. However, the stigma of self-publishing is changing. Success stories have become more and more abundant, and the shock those successes caused even five to 10 years ago is slowly beginning to dissipate.
