After decades of declining trust in the press, coupled with relentless rhetorical attacks on the media by President Trump, there's finally some good news: Trust in media is up since last year, and the great majority of Americans trust their local news sources.
The new Poynter Media Trust Survey found 76 percent of Americans across the political spectrum have "a great deal" or "a fair amount" of trust in their local television news, and 73 percent have confidence in local newspapers.

"Not sure if you saw my last email" is the most annoying phrase people use at work, followed by "per my last email," according to a new email study of working-class Americans conducted by Adobe.

A strong social media following coupled with great content is a recipe for success. But if you don't plan on hiring a social media management company to keep up with regular updates, engage with followers and monitor analytics, it can be a very daunting task that takes up a lot of your time. And in today's instant-gratification-induced environment where it's already tough to disconnect and be present in real-life moments, constantly publishing social media posts can create an even further disconnect.

Continuing its charm offensive with news publishers, Facebook has been testing a tool with five publishers including BuzzFeed to help them improve their reach on the platform.
The organic content testing tool lets publishers test up to four versions of a piece of content, with variations in elements like headline, description and image, in real time — something publishers would otherwise have to pay for by boosting a post.

Print isn't dead. But the soaring cost of newsprint is contributing to the slow death of America's newspapers.

While Instant Articles has fallen out of use with publishers, AMP has contributed to Google overtaking Facebook as a traffic referral source. But despite AMP becoming a growing share of web traffic, some are calling its benefits into question.

From a purely commercial perspective, user traffic is the main resource produced by digital news publishers. Most established news publishers mainly convert this resource into revenues by selling advertising and exposing their own paid-for journalism to potential subscribers.
However, even though today's two-sided revenue model is the best point of departure for converting traffic into revenues, it has built-in inefficiencies.

Five young children, all of Chinese descent, stood posing in front of the tall bamboo trees at the entrance to the New York Chinese Scholar's Garden, in Staten Island's Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden. It was a sunny weekend afternoon, and they were all smiles as their mothers took photographs of them.
"OK, let's go in," said Janet Liang, the mother of three of the children, when she was done.

Recently, we stopped by the San Francisco Botanical Garden in Golden Gate Park. While the garden is in close proximity to the Richmond District, we bet there are a lot of residents who have never stepped through the gates to explore this vast garden full of plant life from around the globe.
The garden is on the southern side of Golden Gate Park, and spans 55 acres with entrances near 9th Avenue and Lincoln in the Sunset, and on MLK Drive inside the park near the Music Concourse.

Behind fences, in the backyards of houses at the Jersey Shore, James Sarappa turns on his yellow boom box, finds "Moon River" or a soothing waltz, and plants eye-popping tropical flowers in huge ceramic pots that sit alongside sparkling pools.
Call him the Jersey Shore's flower whisperer, or, as he would say, flower groomer. Sarappa focuses on backyards in Longport, Margate and Ocean City, where his customers pay him handsomely to create oases.
