How does Twitter change the way people get news? What kinds of thought leaders, journalists and organizations do people follow on the network? How are these Twitter followers different than those on other social networks? And how are people reacting to added elements on Twitter, such as advertising and promoted tweets?
At a moment when the network is poised to make a number of changes, a new study has been produced that probes the relationship between news use and the Twittersphere.

When I started writing this column three-and-a-half years ago, the digital publishing revolution was just starting to filter down to public consciousness.
From a pub lunch where someone was showing off their new Kindle to the 8:53 a.m. slot on the Today program, conversations revolved around the same old questions. Is Amazon intent on destroying literary civilization, or is it a well-oiled customer-focused machine? Are publishers greedy and conservative middlemen or gatekeepers upholding quality?

The Bookseller
Book sales of traditionally published books in the U.S. fell by almost 6% in the first five months of this year, compared to the same period the year before.
Overall sales for trade fiction and non-fiction, children, higher education, professional and university presses were down 5.8% from January to May 2015 to $4 billion, compared to $4.3 billion for the same five months last year, according to the AAP StatShot, produced by the Association of American Publishers.

Today, it seems that everyone is a blogger. Setting up a blog is simple. If your mother can set up a Facebook profile, chances are she will be able to set up a blog.
So, if it is that simple, why are you not blogging? Not everyone wants to write about his or her life. An online diary is seriously not everyone's cup of tea, but if you spend time online, you will notice not all blogs are personal diaries.

As an author, book marketer and social media specialist, I cannot think of a single more wasteful thing an author can do for book sales than to market on Facebook. Put simply, there is no evidence that Facebook can sell books, unless you're a celebrity with a mass following. There is, however, plenty of evidence that Facebook is both a waste of time and money if you're an unknown or midlist author.

I normally publish a full piece every weekend and every Wednesday. This time around, my editor has asked me to delay my latest piece, "How To Fix Problems You Give A S--- About" until Monday morning. Rather than let the weekend go by without writing I thought I would give the iOS app a try. It's not great for writing detailed pieces, I've found, but for sketching out a simple list I think it works quite well. Hope you enjoy.
