IACET is seeking nominations for the 2012 Exemplar and Distinguished Service Awards. The IACET Awards honor deserving individuals, projects or programs that have significantly contributed to the field of continuing education and training. IACET members are invited to submit self-nominations or nominations for other AP programs.More

ANSI/IACET 1-2007 standard public comment period is open
As an ANSI accredited standards development organization, IACET has issued notice for public comment on the revision of the "ANSI/IACET 1-2007 Standard for Continuing Education and Training." The comment period began on May 9 and will end June 25.More

IACET Annual Business Meeting
IACET's Board of Directors, Commission and Council on Standards Development will meet on Aug. 24-25 in Old Town Alexandria, Va. and will be hosting IACET's Annual Business Meeting. Further details to follow at a later date.More

New survey: Majority of employees dissatisfied
Right Management, a subsidiary of the giant staffing firm ManpowerGroup, just released a new snapshot survey that underlines the dissatisfaction among American workers. At a time of high unemployment, lackluster job growth and major uncertainty in world financial markets, many employees feel stuck in their jobs, unable to consider a career move even if they're unhappy.More

A program for keeping older workers employed
For Becky Loyacano, 57, change began with one of the worst disasters in U.S. history. When Hurricane Katrina destroyed Loyacano's home in Slidell, La., in 2005, it also crushed the New Orleans native's work selling disability insurance. "After Katrina, there was no job because there were no accounts to go call on," she says. Following the storm, Loyacano moved twice, but despite her experience in insurance sales and as a buyer and manager for a sporting goods retailer, the recession made finding work a challenge — especially as an older worker.More

New job training offered to veterans
Unemployed veterans aged 35–60 may qualify for up to 12 months of job training through the new Veterans Retraining Assistance Program. VRAP will provide training for programs of education that lead to a high-demand occupation. The program, a joint effort of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Labor, will start July 1.More
