Sacramento State Receives $211K for 'Green Jobs' Training

The College of Continuing Education at California State University Sacramento will receive a boost from stimulus funds for "green jobs" training. The college has received $210,950 in stimulus money to provide classroom training for green jobs in the high-growth industry of facilities management, a news release said. The money comes from almost $5 million in federal Recovery Act funds allocated by the U.S. Labor Department through the Sacramento, Calif., Employment and Training Agency. More

Keeping the Learning Curve Active

Too often, we think of our education as terminating when we finish a leg of our academic journey. We graduate from high school, so we're finished. Or, we graduate with a four-year degree from college, so we're finished. We may even go on to earn a masters or a doctorate, so THEN we're finished. We need to re-think the idea that "completing" our education after a certain diploma or degree is earned is all there is. That goes for those of us who are still active in the workplace and those of us who are nearing or have retired. More
