FEMA offers comment period on Community Emergency Response Team positions

FEMA's National Integration Center is seeking public feedback on National Qualification System job title/position qualifications and position task books. This national engagement period will conclude at 5:00 p.m. EST on Nov 26. This period provides an opportunity for interested parties to comment on the draft document to ensure that it is relevant for all implementing partners. The release includes three positions for Community Emergency Response Teams, including a section chief, team leader and volunteer. Resource typing is a key component of the National Incident Management System and enables organizations from across the country to work together during incidents of all types and sizes. These job titles and position qualifications contain the minimum qualifications and capabilities for personnel and their equipment within their assigned teams to manage all threats and hazards, regardless of incident type or size. These resource typing documents will facilitate the sharing of deployable CERT positions at all jurisdictional levels.

Northern California's Wildfire Risks Were Known but Got Little Help

The warnings were there in black and white less than a year after the Camp fire killed 85 people in their homes and driveways and on the road.
To avoid the next Paradise, a grand jury warned, Butte County needed to reduce its wildfire risks. That included identifying key evacuation routes and reducing grass, brush and timber fuel.

Now that we are eight months into the COVID-19 pandemic, many cities are preparing and submitting reimbursement requests to FEMA. The Conference of Mayors is continuing its partnership with Bloomberg Philanthropies to assist cities in using available federal aid to respond to the impact of COVID-19 on our cities and their residents. The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) has scheduled a series of 10 webinars about the Integrated Preparedness Plan and Integrated Preparedness Planning Workshop. The plan and workshop model were developed to support the coordination, planning and scheduling of activities across the preparedness cycle, a component of the revised 2020 HSEEP Doctrine. All sessions will be identical, and all times are stated in Eastern time. Flood death toll in Cambodia rises to 43: Disaster control agency

Flash floods in Cambodia have claimed 43 lives and forced the evacuations of 47,580 others so far, the National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM) said in a report recently.
Seasonal rains, exacerbated by tropical storms, have caused floods in 19 of the kingdom's 25 cities and provinces since the beginning of the month, the report said, adding that 594,388 people have also been affected.

Colorado Wildfires Burn Hundreds of Homes Before Snow Brings Some Relief

Snow dumped by a winter storm over Colorado has helped firefighters battling the two largest wildfires in state history, but the cold and ice bring additional worries.
One of those blazes, the East Troublesome Fire burning north of Granby, has destroyed 300 to 400 homes, according to KUSA-TV, which cited an unnamed law enforcement source. The Grand Lake Fire Protection District said seven of its first responders have lost their homes in the fire.
