Leadership imperatives for 2022
Kevin Eikenberry
Every time the calendar turns to a new year, people look forward. We look, but we can never see the future with great clarity. However, after the last two years we have lived and led through, 2022 may look even murkier than usual. As we look forward, what must we be thinking about? And more importantly, what must we do? Here is my list of leadership imperatives for 2022.

How to make sense of conflicting feedback on your leadership
Harvard Business Review
Ron Carucci writes: I recently sat with an executive, we'll call him Mark, to review his comprehensive feedback report, which comprised nearly 25 interviews with critical stakeholders. While most feedback contains some contradictory data, in his case, the differences were extreme. Some people described him as supportive and kind, while others described him as self-serving and mean-spirited.

Some big questions for leaders in 2022
Kevin Eikenberry
The best leaders are curious about the world, the future, their businesses and their people. Another way to say that is that great leaders are question askers. I want to share the big questions for leaders at the start of 2022. Here are those questions — with my thoughts as to why they are so important now.

20 signs of leadership excellence
Entrepreneur
Depending on what books or articles you read, there are more than 20 different leadership styles. An autocratic leader, for example, is generally a unilateral decision-maker, while a democratic one encourages input before making decisions. A delegative style, meanwhile, assigns responsibility and decision-making to other managers. However, as with most things in life, style is not nearly as important as substance.

4 leadership lessons that should outlast the pandemic
Entrepreneur
James Lane Allen has rightly said: "Adversity does not build character, it reveals it." The pandemic-led contingencies have reaffirmed the need for leaders to lead with purpose rather than just "manage." In the current scenario, a leader's effectiveness will be measured by cultivating shared goals and persuading their team to work towards a collective goal.

Make 2022 the year you become a connected leader
Forbes
CEOs and other senior leaders are expressing record high levels of job anxiety heading into 2022, and they are absolutely right to be concerned. This prolonged period of high stress creates a challenge for senior leadership to exert a calming influence on corporate culture. While the COVID-19 pandemic continues to alter our workplaces, return to work hasn't meant a return to the in-person offices of the past, but rather, a hybrid environment at best or a continuation of a total remote workforce.

4 truths for overcoming goal-setting resistance
Michael Hyatt
It's that time of year again. It seems like everyone is talking about their goals, New Year's resolutions or how things will be different next year. However, maybe you're an outlier. Maybe you feel resistance toward that and, at the most, are only mildly intrigued. It can be natural to feel skeptical, especially if you've never set goals before or if the ones you set in the past fizzled out.

Promoted by School of EMS
Online education is not new, but it has been slow to be embraced by vocational schools, especially for the Fire and EMS industry. Students enroll in online school for the increased flexibility and cost savings offered by doing coursework at home - or at the station!
So how can such a hands-on discipline successfully be taught with the instructor and student in different cities?
Short answer: Not easily, and not just anyone can do it. It takes a dedicated, specialized school to efficiently educate paramedics in an online hybrid model without sacrificing quality.

4 consequences of drifting to avoid
Michael Hyatt
It's so easy for us to get caught up in life's current. We start drifting, and we end up in a place we would never have chosen if we had been consciously aware of it. Unfortunately, that's how a lot of people approach life — drifting; caught up in life's distractions.

How to coax more work from your existing workforce
Inc.
Employers are filling jobs at a slower rate than expected, data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed in December. However, that doesn't mean someone isn't picking up the slack. In that same data set, the rise in the number of aggregate hours worked was equivalent to the economy adding more than 630,000 new jobs, explains economist Dean Baker in an analysis for the Center for Economic and Policy Research.
