Certification is for three (3) years and expires on December 31, regardless of the month in which you attained your initial certification. For those nurses whose certification expires in 2017 The Association sent you a renewal notice earlier this year. Money is available to offer support and services to victims of rape and sexual violence after another local agency lost state funding.
Melissa Bailey, director of the city Planning Department, said $39,000 has been made available from a continuum of care grant administered by her office.
The money will be used at One Place of the Shoals, a victims and family assistance agency, to provide a sexual assault nurse examiner, a computer and a sexual assault services coordinator at One Place.

A grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Justice is helping Penn State University’s College of Nursing improve access to high-quality forensic sexual assault care in rural areas through the opening of a forensic simulation lab.
The lab was created in the spring to stand as a hub for IT technology to support the teleforensic program. It is a part of a larger project with the Pennsylvania Sexual Assault Forensic Examination and Telehealth (SAFE-T) Center headed up by Dr. Sheridan Miyamoto, assistant professor of nursing and faculty in the Child Maltreatment Solutions Network.

Reported child abuse incidents are on the rise as consultation centers nationwide handled a record 122,578 cases in fiscal 2016, a health ministry survey showed, increasing the strain on welfare workers.
Juvenile consultation centers have seen around a fivefold increase in abuse cases over the past 15 years, while the number of welfare workers responding to victims and their parents has only doubled in the same period.

Researchers at Texas Christian University conducted a mixed methods study in order to: 1) examine the extent to which human trafficking in the U.S. is perpetuated by organized criminal groups; 2) better understand the groups, individuals, and operations of the organized crime groups engaged in human trafficking; and 3) make available federally prosecuted human trafficking cases in an open source and searchable online database at HumanTraffickingData.org.
