Is a 13-year-old old enough to agree to sex with an adult? That’s a question France is asking as the government prepares to set a legal age for sexual consent for the first time.
Twice in recent weeks, French courts have refused to prosecute men for rape after they had sex with 11-year-old girls because authorities couldn’t prove coercion. Amid the public disbelief over the situation, the French government is drafting a bill to say that sex with children under a certain age is by definition coercive.

"Being exposed to non-physical sexual harassment can negatively affect symptoms of anxiety, depression, negative body image and low self-esteem," say Associate Professor Mons Bendixen and Professor Leif Edward Ottesen Kennair at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology's (NTNU) Department of Psychology.
This applies to derogatory sexual remarks about appearance, behaviour and sexual orientation, unwanted sexual attention, being subject to rumouring, and being shown sexually oriented images, and the like.

TripAdvisor has added a badge to the pages about hotels where sexual assaults are reported, the travel website confirmed Wednesday to CBS News.
Three hotels in Mexico were badged on Wednesday, a TripAdvisor spokesman said.
"These badges will remain on TripAdvisor for up to 3 months; however, if the issues persist we may extend the duration of the badge. These badges are intended to be informative, not punitive," a TripAdvisor spokesperson said.

As an emergency room nurse at Via Christi Hospital St. Joseph, Diana Schunn cared for numerous victims of sexual assault.
While she and her colleagues strived to provide them with the best care possible within the fastpaced environment of an ER, Schunn says she always wished she could do more.
So, 20 years ago, when she read about a program designed to teach nurses how to respond to the needs of patients who’d been sexually assaulted, she approached the hospital administrators and asked if she could go for training.

Stevie Barber’s roommates awoke to her screams as her boyfriend strangled her into unconsciousness, then set fire to her bedroom.
Barber’s boyfriend and her roommates made it out of the burning Central District duplex. Firefighters pulled Barber, 21, from the blaze with burns to her entire body. She was declared dead on arrival at Harborview Medical Center just five days into 2000.
