Choosing a color can lead to an identity crisis. The next time you're stumped over what to paint a room, look towards your horoscope for enlightenment.
In the digital photo age, not only do most of us have cameras on us at all times, but we have printers that can turn them from pixels into paper. There’s been no formal study I can find, but it only stands to reason that people have more photographs of friends and family in their possession now than at any other time in history. So, now the question becomes: How do you display them?
Benjamin Moore recently announced its highly anticipated Color of the Year 2017 — Shadow 2117-30, a rich, royal amethyst. The color leader also unveiled Color Trends 2017, a corresponding palette consisting of deep, saturated hues.
Why hello, hostess with the mostess. Bring your guests together around a centerpiece that captures the beauty of the season.
When decorating a room, we usually get to work overhauling the walls, furnishings, and window treatments, but a key element is right beneath our feet. Renowned interior designer and decorator Miles Redd regularly uses paint to make the floors pop in his plush and playful spaces. “I love it in an entrance hall, where you’re covering a basic, not-so-special wood floor,” says Redd, who likes to bring a similar wow factor to dining rooms, kitchens, and children's bedrooms. We asked Redd how to incorporate bold colors and striking patterns underfoot, and tapped Chris Pearson, his go-to painter, for technical tips.

Hardwood may be one of the oldest building materials known to man, yet architects, designers and homeowners are always finding fresh ways to use it in the modern home. What's the appeal? Flexibility and variety, for starters.
Designers sometimes refer to the ceiling as the fifth wall, and if you think about it, it kind of makes sense: Why should only four walls in a room get all the attention, when there’s one right above your head just waiting to express your style? When it comes to decorating a fifth wall, the sky is the limit. Here are 10 great ideas to get your creative juices flowing up.
The mudroom may be the hardest-working part of the house, tackling dirty shoes, snow-covered coats and dripping umbrellas. Frequently a less formal entrance, this high-traffic area needs plenty of shoe storage, accessories for organization, and durable materials that can withstand the elements. From a rustic anteroom in a Kentucky carriage house designed by Mona Hajj to a colorful passage in a Connecticut country home by Miles Redd, these spaces prove that even a small area can be transformed into a functional spot with a few smart additions.

If you read most marketing rags, you will come across the term "pain points" over and over. You will be told to look for pain points in your clients or potential clients. Figure out your clients' pain points, offer them a solution to alleviate the pain, and you will gain yourself a client for life. Looking for pain to serve your bottom line seems awfully opportunistic at the least, and draconian at its worst. And a bit off the mark, if you ask me. You need more than a pain point to serve your clients well.
