In an otherwise subdued district of Moscow, V12 Architect’s recent project is a dazzling, if unusual, beacon. The space in question, a colorful café splashed with lemon-yellow accents and glowing neon twists, was dreamed up by the designers for returning client Karavaev Brothers. This was the culinary chain’s third time hiring V12. With just over 2,100-square-feet to cover and an exterior renovation in order, Karavaev Brothers needed a team who could pack a visual punch into a space that still streamlined food service.

With its modern architecture, furniture, and even cutlery, the Radisson Collection Royal Hotel in Copenhagen is often described as the “world’s first design hotel.” Designed by Arne Jacobsen for the airline SAS in 1960, it has recently undergone a full renovation by local practice Space Copenhagen. Drawing on extensive research into the hotel’s original design, the designers reintroduced some of Jacobsen’s most notable furnishings (the Egg, Swan, and Drop chairs were designed for the hotel), as well as the marble floors, wood and marble paneling, and leather-wrapped handrails of the original interior.

The way a hospital is designed can improve staff efficiency in many ways, such as minimizing steps required, reducing fatigue, and lowering stress. Certain design components, such as standardized rooms and floor plans, can result in greater efficiency.
Standardized room design provides a consistent manner in which to deliver care. The orientation of staff to the patient and to other elements in the room, such as the hand-washing sink and supplies, are the same from room to room.

The new store offers a “customer-first” modern shopping experience, with Lands’ End signature colors — true navy and white — providing a classic backdrop.
