For 50 years, the Calvin Klein brand has defined and refined a particularly American approach to minimalism. It elevated jeans and underwear into status symbols with the touch of a sans serif logo. In its new redesign, the walls actually feel tense, vibrating with the anaglyph effect of vintage 3-D movies. They also call to mind New York’s famed abstract expressionists, who worked not far from the buildings visible through the windows lining two of the showroom walls. To bring the city in, ARO framed the views with polished stainless steel.

Puccini Group spearheaded the interiors of Grain and Cane, the new restaurant for The Embassy Suites by Hilton in Berkeley Heights, run by the Connells, that just opened recently. Recalling the Connells' history in the grain business, the restaurant's industrial aesthetic — think exposed brick walls, polished concrete floors, and steel columns — references the family's grain storage facilities. Oversized, garage-style doors offer sweeping views of the New Jersey hillside.

Valladolid, Spain is known for its ebullient nightlife, provided by busy cafés and tapas bars, great restaurants, and appealing stores — an intriguing new wine shop among them. Set behind a modern facade on a motley streetscape a few steps from the city’s Old Town, De Vinos y Viandas is Zooco Estudio. This contemporary homage to the region’s famed underground wine bodegas — an imaginative update of the ancient vaulted cellars, built by Benedictine monks, that populate the rolling hills of northwest Spain.

Employee burnout tends to start with exhaustion and quickly migrate to shame or doubt about the ability to get things done well. It develops to cynicism and finally a feeling of helplessness. If we can find ways to reduce the conditions for burnout, we are creating the conditions for its inverse — people who can bring their whole selves to work and who are motivated, engaged, and inspired.
We focus on good care, good information, good work, good relationships, and a good future to find the right kind of spark.

Linda Naiman writes: "One of the skills I've had to develop over the years is the ability to influence people to embrace and accept dramatically new and unfamiliar ideas. In my first career as a designer, I've learned it is best to have at least three solutions for consideration, not just one, and to invite stakeholders early on to participate. When people feel they have ownership of an idea, they are more likely to get onboard and become your champion."

Entrepreneur
Ego is one of the biggest problems that humanity faces. Being egoless is not possible; however, you can keep yours in check to create business success.
When you are over-invested with your own self-worth, ego is running the show. Each person has beliefs and fears about their value, and when under stress, defensive, or over-inflated behaviors play out. When on stage, leading an executive meeting, or being a part of a mentorship relationship, your attention can be preoccupied by your view of yourself.
