SkB Architects has designed Boston Consulting Group's new Seattle office. Positioned at the top of the 1201 Third tower in downtown Seattle, and occupying the 54th and 55th floors, Boston Consulting Group's new offices represent a substantial shift from their former offices.
Previously quartered in a smaller, less bespoke office setting, BCG sought a more inviting and sophisticated environment in which to work. The design challenge for this 24,223-square-foot project was to create an environment that accommodates the Boston Consulting Group's flexible approach to work space without sacrificing the incredible 300-plus-degree vistas the space has to offer.

The MGM Springfield (owned and operated by MGM Resorts International) is the newest behemoth resort in Massachusetts, spanning three city blocks and offering 250 guest rooms, a 125,000 square foot casino, an 8,000-seat entertainment center, multiple food and beverage outlets, 34,000 square feet of meeting space, and more. Such a large project required several design firms tackling different entities within the complex. MGM’s in-house team designed guest rooms, while Los Angeles-based Avenue Interior Design took on the hotel’s lobby and Italian restaurant, Cal Mare.

Aptly called the Elsie Rooftop, the combined bar, restaurant, and terrace is perched on the twenty-fifth floor of a nondescript corporate office building in Times Square. Belgian designer Delphine Mauroit, an alum of esteemed hospitality firms such as Rockwell Group and Yabu Pushelberg, drew from de Wolfe’s storied life and tastes for the venue’s gilded, Jazz-age inflected interiors.

The second Amazon Go store has opened its doors —ahead of schedule. The online giant recently opened its second cashier-less Amazon Go convenience store in its hometown of Seattle.
The new c-store opened ahead of its originally projected fall timeline, and is 1,450 square feet — smaller than originally reported. To shop the store, shoppers launch the Amazon Go app on their mobile device as they enter, and take the products they want off of store shelves. Amazon’s “walk out” technology automatically detects when products are taken off (or returned) to the shelves, and keeps track of them in a virtual cart.

London’s newest Night Tales bar and restaurant has launched beneath the railway arches of Hackney Central. Designed by locally based studio Sella Concepts, the indoor-outdoor Night Tales Bohemia Place accommodates up to 300 guests across 9,000 square feet.
Comprising of a nightclub, pizza parlor, and a nearly 4,000-square-foot garden lounge, the new concept instills uniformity by expanding upon elements of the Japanese bar and grill also featured onsite.

It’s not every day that a designer gets to reinvent a former Hooters, but that’s just the task that Ann Stevenson took on when she set out to create the interior at southeast Michigan restaurant group Union Joints’ new Latin American-inspired restaurant. The result is an eclectic combination of decor that Stevenson describes as a quilt with “seemingly disparate elements stitched together.” The restaurant seats 245 people including a patio area and features three distinct spaces. A small cafe near the restaurant’s entrance serves coffee, espresso drinks, juices, and pastries all day in an area decked out in pink cactus printed wallpaper.

Eileen Fisher’s new experimental location, dubbed “Making Space,” is quite deliberately showing its seams. The store in the Boerum Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, pulls the curtain back on the full life cycle of an Eileen Fisher product via a single location that’s equal parts maker space, artist-in-residence, and a community hub where one can even take a sewing class — marking an entirely new retail concept for the brand, executives told PSFK during a walk through of the store.

There are two moments that stand out in the minds of experienced leaders.
