The Wheelhouse Hotel has opened in Chicago’s Wrigleyville neighborhood as the maiden upscale concept from Bedderman Lodging. Housed within an overhauled 20th-century greystone, the hotel embraces its proximity to Wrigley Field with playful baseball-themed elements, ranging from a vintage green scoreboard and salvaged stadium seating to a baseball bat art installation. The living room-style lobby features polished concrete floors, salvaged furniture, warm brick walls, and exposed wooden beams.

Created by Walt Disney in 1955, Disneyland has been a magical destination for kids and adults alike for the past 63 years. It’s also a huge moneymaker. Disney’s parks and resorts brought in nearly $5.2 billion in revenue in the last quarter alone, and central to its success is meticulous design. At it’s opening, Disneyland was different from the other theme parks of the era because it was designed to be more like a World’s Fair than a carnival. In fact, the famed ride It’s a Small World was featured at the 1964 World’s Fair in New York.

Foster had embarked on his biggest commission to date, a one-million-square-foot headquarters for the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation destined to become a pioneering landmark and an emblem of a new urban era. When it was completed, “it was the tallest building on the harbor,” Foster recalls in an email.

Meeting attendees are so accustomed to this monotonous routine that they come armed with an arsenal of more interesting distractions, such as text messages, social media, and emails.
