A moody bar and sun-lit restaurant were among the spaces added during the renovation of this hotel, which encompasses 25 historic canal houses in Amsterdam.
First opened in 1968 by local businessman Peter Pulitzer, Pulitzer Amsterdam hotel comprised originally of 12 canal houses in the city's center that date back to the 17th and 18th centuries. The updated hotel contains 13 more properties so it spans two major canals.

When residents of Cartersville, Georgia, pass by the glass façade of the Shaw Create Centre, they get a birds-eye view into the three-story innovation hub. Shaw Industries has been manufacturing carpet here, nearly 40 miles north of Atlanta, since the 1960s, so establishing a dialogue between the 67,000-square-foot LEED Silver facility and the community was an intentional aspect of Gensler’s design.

Interior design activity in the third quarter of the year was by and large mixed, with some sectors and some regions faring better than others. That trend is expected to continue throughout the fourth quarter, based on recent surveys of designer sentiment. Rising costs of products and materials, along with growing uncertainty about the health of the economy, have put a damper on client demand for new and larger projects. On the whole, residential firms experienced only a modest decline in activity during the summer.
