The new hotel design that perfectly combines business and leisure
Hotels are rethinking room design as guests' work and play priorities merge creating the desire for a space that caters equally to both. While major brands have met this demand by adding public co-working spaces and more connected rooms, new hospitality brands are incorporating elements of a business and leisure stay from the start.

NY lighting design like the great Dutch design period of the 90s
The lighting scene in New York is "exploding" according to designers in the city, with young companies joining established names to create a movement with a unique aesthetic. "There's a critical mass of people doing it all at once," said Jason Miller, a Brooklyn designer who is founder of luxury lighting brand Roll & Hill. Miller said the energy of the scene is comparable to the great period of Dutch design in the 1990s that saw the emergence of global names including Hella Jongerius, Marcel Wanders, and Richard Hutten.

Simulating health care spaces through virtual reality

Virtual reality isn't just for fun and (video) games anymore. It's helping solve real-world problems in health care design and construction. Sanford Fargo Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota, turned to virtual reality to experience its $500 million facility before it was built. The project team relied on virtual reality to aid decision making and design review for critical spaces and architectural elements, using approaches tailored to the participants and goals of each situation.
