Waking up just one hour earlier could reduce a person's risk of major depression by 23%, suggests a sweeping new genetic study published recently in the journal JAMA Psychiatry.
The study of 840,000 people, by researchers at University of Colorado Boulder and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, represents some of the strongest evidence yet that chronotype — a person's propensity to sleep at a certain time — influences depression risk.

Childhood BMI Tied to Later Eating Disorder Risk

Childhood body mass index is associated with a later risk for eating disorders, according to a study presented at the European Congress on Obesity.
Britt Wang Jensen, Ph.D., from Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital in Copenhagen, Denmark, and colleagues examined whether BMI during childhood was associated with a subsequent diagnosis of anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa through age 50 years.
