McLane Stadium to offer new premium food with traditional fare

Seafood po'boys, barbecue sandwiches and various deep-fried and bacon-wrapped concoctions are among the new premium concession stand items that will be available for sale at McLane Stadium in Waco, Texas. Baylor University has contracted with food vendor Savor to handle concessions at all of its athletics facilities, from McLane Stadium and the Ferrell Center to the ballpark and soccer fields in the Jim and Julie Turner Riverfront Complex.

Southern Methodist University basketball sees $350,000 in beer, wine sales

Southern Methodist University sold nearly $350,000 in beer and wine at basketball games last season, far outpacing sales for other concessions, according to state and university records. The boost in sales from beer and wine suggests SMU could see sizable increases in revenue when it expands sales this fall to football games at Ford Stadium.

New standards mean snacks must be smarter in school cafeterias, stores, vending machines

Schools will have to provide students with healthier snacks and beverages during the school day this year as part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Smart Snacks in School standards. The Hunger-Free Kids Act, which gave schools three years to make their menus healthier with more whole grains, fruits and vegetables, less fat and sodium and smaller portion sizes, added similar nutritional guidelines to all snacks and beverages served during the school day, starting July 1.
