New York City has mandated that any food item with value of 2,500 mg of sodium or greater (which is the recommended daily allowance for sodium) must display a designating salt icon on their menus and menu boards. Most of the standard concession and hospitality food and beverage items will certainly not need to concern themselves with this new sodium regulation, however, in an attempt to be as transparent as possible The National Association of Concessionaires (NAC) is requesting all Supplier members to forward us their product information sheets that have determined the sodium content of your products. We will create a Sodium Database and make this information available to all NAC members behind the Member's Area on naconline.org.

Get out the knife and fork. The Super Bowl is almost upon us.
Sure, the football part of the Super Bowl is fun, and a lot of people love watching it for the quirky and innovative commercials. When do consumers readily agree to pay extra in order to receive less? In most cases, the answer would be "never."
That hasn't been the case lately with soda, however. For years now, consumers have been buying less soda — diet soda in particular — as more have turned to energy drinks, flavored water, coffee and other beverages instead. Yet one category of soda sales has defied the trend: The mini soda, typically available in a 7.5-ounce or 8-ounce can rather than the standard 12-ouncer, has risen dramatically in popularity while overall soda sales have gone, well, flat.

Everyone is talking about Coca-Cola's new "Taste the Feeling" campaign, which focuses on a series of different emotionally charged moments for Coke drinkers. At a time when sodas are increasingly berated for their negative impact on health and face declining sales, this seems bold indeed. American beverage consumption is set for a revolutionary change in 2016. With alarming health reports on diabetes and obesity, all sugary drinks are under fire like never before.

You come up with a marketing gimmick related to the Super Bowl.
There's good reason to. According to last year's National Retail Federation's Super Bowl Spending Survey, the average viewer was projected to spend $77.88 on the Super Bowl, which includes everything from game day food to a new TV and athletic wear, with total spending in the neighborhood of $14 billion.

If your staff is underperforming and not meeting your expectations, maybe you should take a look at your behavior and see if it's in sync with the messages you're giving out. When there is a disconnect between what the boss says and what the boss does, your staff will always give more weight to the boss's behavior. Inconsistency with policies and expectations tells your staff you don't know what you're doing, you don't care what they're doing, or you're volatile as a supervisor.
