Indiana-based Ben's Soft Pretzels is planning to open 25 new Chicago-area stores by 2021.
The company currently has six Illinois locations across greater Chicago and Rockford. Ben's previously had a location on the Near West Side; that location closed more than a year ago. In total, it has 75 locations in eight states, with 20 more in development this year.
Ben's said it is looking for franchisees to invest in the planned Chicago-area locations. It estimates the investment can range anywhere from $118,500 to $332,000.

As culinary judges nibbled their way through dozens of cakes made from scratch at the 2016 Kentucky State Fair, the "chocolate malt cake" was a time machine.
"It carried them back to days at the soda shop," Kentucky State Fair Culinary Superintendent Steve Lee said. "It was a rollback to Bobby Socks days."
As a result, the three layer cake took top prize in Division 50, the made-from-scratch category where freedom reigns and bragging rights go to the winner of $12 and a blue ribbon.

Mars is to launch an M&M's butterscotch flavor exclusively at Target stores across the US this Halloween. The Boo-tterscotch M&Ms will retail for $3.19 per eight-ounce bag. Mars said the new item combines the flavors of butterscotch and white chocolate, and was designed as a new "seasonal treat" for its Halloween portfolio.
