Spreadable beer exists, so you can drink your brew and eat it, too
The Huffington Post
Love beer so much that you wish you could eat it? The time has come. Birra Spalmabile is the brainchild of an Italian chocolatier and an Italian brewer: Accordingly, it spreads just like ganache and tastes like a brew. A single jar contains 40 percent beer — and no chocolate. The product can be paired with both sweet and savory foods, like cheeses, meats, fruits and pastries.

Why higher taxes on sugary foods don't work
The Huffington Post
Taxing sugar sweetened beverages may reduce consumption somewhat, but only very little. One study by Berkeley University economists found that even a 10 percent tax would reduce fat consumption by less than 1 percent. Another study in Health Economics found that a 20 percent tax on sugar-sweetened beverages would reduce weight by a mere two pounds. And keep in mind that these estimates are usually on the high side. Fat taxes don't work because food purchases usually don't respond to price changes.

So, when they read that researchers at social networking company the Draugiem Group discovered that the most productive people took exactly 17-minute breaks for every 52 minutes of work, they couldn't wait to try it out and watch productivity and happiness skyrocket. The results of the challenge, sadly, did not live up to the hype.

Move to limit and tax soda is the new tobacco fight
San Francisco Examiner
It is now common knowledge that the tobacco industry expanded the market for its deadly products by concealing and casting doubt on evidence that smoking is addictive and causes lung and heart disease. Big Tobacco couldn't have kept the fraud going for so long without the assistance of public-relations firms that developed diabolically effective strategies for obfuscating science and portraying cigarette smoking as a liberating lifestyle choice. Fast-forward to 2014: We've come a long way, yet many of these same PR mercenaries are helping to cover up an emerging public-health menace: soda.
