Last August, The National Association of Concessionaires (NAC), at its annual board meeting in New Orleans, introduced a new award. The Krystal La Reese-Gaule Annual Membership Award will be presented to the member who sponsors the most new NAC (Full) memberships during the most recent fiscal year. The individual will be provided a free registration to the 2014 Concession & Hospitality Expo (July 15-18) in Denver as well as a stunning trophy memorializing Krystal's tireless efforts for NAC. Packaging Concepts, Inc. (PCI) a leading manufacturer of flexible packaging, has purchased the assets of Integrity Packaging Houston, from 21st Century Partners of Dallas, for an undisclosed amount. The new entity Packaging Concepts of Houston LLC will be a wholly owned subsidiary of PCI. The subsidiary will remain at the Silber Road address.

FDA chief says menu labeling regulations coming soon

New regulations regarding menu labeling and calorie information are expected to be released soon, but writing the rules has proved more complicated than expected, according to a report by The Hill. At a Nov. 5 event sponsored by Bloomberg Government, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Margaret Hamburg said she originally anticipated that the process of issuing the regulations, which are mandated by the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, "[would] be one of the most straightforward tasks. Little did I know how complicated it would be."

Who cares about 'likes' anyway?

I guess you see where this is heading. What's the value of a like? Not much, really. When likes started, they seemed to be such a great idea: Google and other data collection sites could measure your popularity. The more likes, the more popular. So what happened?
