Every year the National Association of Enrolled Agents Education Foundation (NAEA-EF) awards scholarships to both aspiring and current enrolled agents. The scholarship program receives its funds from NAEA members with additional support from industry partners supporting the profession and offering a helping hand to the next generation of enrolled agents.
The scholarships are designed to offset the registration cost for the education programs offered at NAEA conferences. Consideration will be given to applicants who have experience in taxation or accounting. Learn more about NAEA Scholarship opportunities.

California officials have pursued Gilbert Hyatt for nearly three decades, trying to force him to pay state income taxes on royalties he began receiving in the early 1990s from his groundbreaking technology inventions. Hyatt moved from Southern California to Las Vegas just before the royalty payments began rolling in, clearly hoping to take advantage of Nevada’s lack of a state income tax. But the Franchise Tax Board, California’s tax collector, alleged that it was an improper tax dodge and billed him for millions of dollars in taxes, igniting their epic battle.

A year ago, the new $10,000 cap on the federal deduction for state and local taxes prompted dire predictions for the real estate market, especially in expensive areas like New York and San Francisco. In these and other high-tax places, local property taxes alone can cost more than $10,000 a year. Many finance experts warned that limiting what these residents could deduct from their local taxes would lower home values and hurt governments' property tax revenue along with it.
