Ninety-six percent of remodelers nationwide are experiencing a slowdown in the rate at which they’re receiving inquiries as a result of the coronavirus, according to the National Association of Home Builders, who included a survey question on the matter in its latest Remodeling Market Index. Ninety-three percent report a growing unwillingness among homeowners to remodel at this time.

Markup and Profit
Estimating the cost of a project accurately is critical if you want to be profitable. When you miss items, or underestimate how long a task will take, the job will cost more to build than anticipated. That additional cost comes out of your profit.
The one problem area I hear about most frequently is estimating labor. This is a problem primarily with remodeling and specialty contractors, but to some degree it also applies to those building new homes.

Remodelers Advantage
In any Nascar race, there are several times during the race when full speed racing has been interrupted or slowed down due to an obstruction on the track, usually caused by an accident or track conditions.
A yellow caution flag is presented, requiring slower speeds, no passing, etc. The pace car emerges from pit row and sets the speed for those cars on the track.

While the application included instruction, the SBA failed to provide two additional items that would have greatly benefited borrowers.
