Attend this presentation before you make assumptions. You might be surprised at what a real Lead Carpenter System can do for your business and aspiring field employees!

PowerTips Unscripted
In a low-unemployment economy, recruiting and retaining the best talent is a continuous effort. You need a powerful competitive advantage — one that’s nearly impossible for anyone else to copy.
It’s your company culture.
In this episode, Steve Anderson tells Victoria and Mark why that is, and how you can develop a successful culture — or turn around a faltering one.
Steve’s an author, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. He’s worked with tens of thousands of professionals to grow and expand their businesses. Steve has spoken at our Remodeler’s Summit and worked with our Roundtables members in the past. LISTEN NOW
Pro Remodeler
Mark IV Builders likes to measure the results of its remodeling work. One tool the company uses is a blower door to test the air tightness of the house before they begin remodeling, and then again after their work is complete. The results demonstrate to clients and field employees how much attention to detail can pay off.
Lately, the company has experimented with adding a new element to some of its test-in and test-out processes.

Remodeling
It is difficult, but not impossible, to recover from a large amount of debt. A business is a fragile entity. Contracts need to be signed. The projects need to be estimated accurately and brought in on budget. The financial reports must be reviewed regularly to ensure they are accurate. Clients need to feel smart because they worked with the business. While all of this is going on, the company must be building a significant cash reserve, just in case.
And all of the above always needs to be happening.
What are the alternatives?

But at just 9% of industry's workforce, leaders say more must be done to help young girls consider it as a career. More women are being represented in the construction industry than in years past, but it still is a heavily male-dominated field. Women make up about 9% of the construction industry’s workforce, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
A similar story among women professionals in the construction world is being the only female voice at the discussion table. Monica Steimle-App, executive vice president of real estate development for Rockford Construction, said it was apparent to her, from the beginning of her career, that she was typically the only woman at the discussion table.

A business can typically suffer in four ways when the owner or a key employee dies or is incapacitated.

Qualified Remodeler
Many institutions and businesses in our country have become excellent at being mediocre. It’s a mindset—one the remodeling industry suffers from as well. Whether at a burger joint, a registry of motor vehicles or a lumberyard, we all expect and tolerate poor service because it has become the norm.
If you have the guts to speak up about a mediocre employee or mediocre business responsible for poor service, you may even find yourself being personally attacked. In effect, many business owners and employees seem to be more concerned about protecting or defending their mediocrity than they are about getting away from it.
