A recent Government Accountability Office (GAO) report found that extreme weather related to climate change potentially threatens utilities that produce drinking water and treat wastewater. GAO examined federal technical and financial assistance to make such infrastructure more resilient to extreme weather and asked experts about additional options. For example, EPA provides technical assistance to utilities to improve resilience. This EPA initiative provides web-based tools and resources in the form of an interactive guide, a case studies map, a risk assessment tool, climate scenario projection maps, and storm surge inundation maps to help drinking water and wastewater utilities understand potential long-term risks and options to enhance their resilience to climate impacts, including extreme weather events.

NSPS lobbyist John "JB" Byrd recently met with Christina Hale (D), a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in the 5th Congressional District of Indiana. This is an open seat caused by the decision of current Congresswoman Susan Brooks (R) to retire at the end of this Congress. While serving in the Indiana General Assembly, Christina was recognized for results, even as a member of a super-minority. Her time in the assembly taught her how important it is to set differences aside and put constituents first. She made good on her promise to collaborate – every single bill she passed had support from Democrats and Republicans. The primary in Indiana is scheduled for Tuesday, May 5, 2020. Almost a year ago today I was in a meeting where someone was telling me that the project we were working on needed to use LoRa positioning so that diggers and trucks could be tracked on a real-time map. I am not at liberty to give you my full response, but my professional response is that the technology is not mature enough for that purpose.
