New York State's economy grows by over 12,000 jobs as job count reaches another all-time high
New York State Department of Labor
New York State’s private sector job count grew by 12,800, or 0.2 percent, in February 2014, according to preliminary figures released today by the New York State Department of Labor. This latest monthly gain raised New York State’s private sector job count to 7,543,100, an all-time high. The state’s unemployment rate remained unchanged at 6.8 percent, which is a five-year low. More

New York City votes to outlaw discrimination against unpaid interns
The New York City Council voted 50-0 to prohibit employers from discriminating against unpaid interns on the basis of age, race, creed, color, national origin, sex, disability, marital status, partnership status, sexual orientation, citizenship status or status as a victim of domestic violence, sex offenses or stalking. Claimants will be permitted under the bill to either sue or make a complaint to the Commission on Human Rights. More
