Bullhorn, which develops a recruitment software and applicant tracking system, is releasing a new Social Recruiting Activity Report that examines the usage of social media in executive and job recruiting. Bullhorn found that LinkedIn leads among the frequency of usage by recruiters and their effectiveness for sourcing candidates, followed by Twitter, with Facebook coming in third. More

Governor continues campaign to find jobs for veterans

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo has implemented two key initiatives of his "Experience Counts" campaign to help returning veterans get jobs in New York state. The governor announced the Department of Motor Vehicles is waiving road tests for veterans applying for a commercial driver's license if they have military experience operating a similar vehicle. In addition, he chose appointments to the New York State Council on Returning Veterans and Their Families, a group that helps returning veterans get jobs. More

US Labor Department tightens rules on employing foreign workers

The U.S. Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration and its Wage and Hour Division have announced a final rule to improve the H-2B temporary nonagricultural worker program. The rule, to be published in the Feb. 21 edition of the Federal Register, includes changes to several aspects of the program to ensure U.S. workers receive greater access to jobs. More
