The impact of the coronavirus pandemic on payroll
By Grace Ferguson
Payroll is a core organizational function that any business with employees must perform. Often, though, it remains in the background, overshadowed by more visible operations, such as human resources and finance. But every now and then, an event comes along to remind us of payroll’s critical existence. Currently, that event is the COVID-19 pandemic. As some states move towards reopening their economies, employers are still reeling from the sudden emergence of COVID-19 and its adverse effects on payroll.

How to revise employee experience for social distancing
CustomerThink
Today’s employee experience is not what people were promised. The employee experience today, with social distancing, distributed teams, and different expectations, is a far cry from what most of our employees have come to expect and rely upon.
While some workers are happy with remote work, many had been very pleased to be anchored to the routine of a daily commute and the ability to walk out at the end of the workday.

Can Larry Ellison turn Zoom and autonomous into big-time Oracle cloud revenue?
Cloud Wars
While Oracle is unlikely to challenge Microsoft, Amazon and Google in the traditional public-cloud business, Larry Ellison’s using one of his classic strategies to make Oracle a big-time IaaS player: changing the rules of the game to align with his strengths.
So it’s too late to come anywhere close to those three hyperscalers in the massive public-cloud market? No problem. Just redefine “cloud infrastructure” to include a revolutionary Oracle product that could have massive revenue potential: the Autonomous Database. Pay no attention to the fact that cloud databases have traditionally been classified as PaaS, rather than IaaS.

Could Oracle solve Zoom video communications' biggest problem?
The Motley Fool
Zoom Video Communications recently announced it would tap Oracle's cloud infrastructure platform to support its video conferencing service. Zoom's service previously ran on its own data centers, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft's Azure. Zoom will continue to use AWS and Azure after adding Oracle to the mix.
Zoom's daily meeting participants surged from 10 million to 300 million in the first four months of 2020 as the pandemic forced more people to stay at home, so it wasn't surprising for Zoom scale up its infrastructure.
