OMCA
In January 2017, OMCA reported that MTO had proposed changes to the under-body inspection requirements — from 12,000 km or 30 days, whichever comes first, to 12,000 km or 30 days, whichever comes last. In the regulatory registry, the proposed date for this change to take effect was January 1, 2018.
OMCA has recently learned that the proposed changes to the under-body inspection requirements slated for January 1, 2018 have been delayed. According to sources at the Ministry, the changes cannot take effect without Cabinet approval, something that has not yet happened.
The Ministry is committed to obtaining approvals as expeditiously as possible and expects to obtain approval from Cabinet in March, with a July 1 effective date. All coach operators are encouraged to continue to meet the 12,000 km or 30 days, whichever comes first, in the meantime.

Canada's largest school board is looking to allow some travel to the United States — a decision that several school districts across the country have grappled with in light of uncertainty surrounding restrictions at the border.
A Toronto District School Board (TDSB) committee is recommending that school trips to the United States specifically related to high-school competitions for students and professional development for staff be allowed. An overall ban on travel south of the border, which came into effect last spring, would still remain in effect.
